But before that, you need to know how to grow it at home? All, you need to do is follow the below celery growing steps.
Without wasting any time let’s know how to grow celery at home?
Cut the celery stalk
The very first step of the process is you need to have fresh celery. Then cut the stalk about 2 inches for the base. Now take a bowl of fresh clean water and wash the stalk. The stalk should be clean and free of diseases, dust, and debris.
Put the recently cut stalk of the celery in the bowl filled with warm water. The bowl should be 4 inches deep, double the length of the stalk. Make sure the base of the celery point towards down and the cut portion faces upwards.
Here we use warm water because it makes the base of celery soft. And encourage the growth of new shoots.
Now in the next step, put the bowl in the sunlight. Put it in such a place where it can get a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight. Light is necessary to grow celery from the stalk. You can put it on the sunny window sill.
For indoor growing celery you have to buy a 200 watts LED grow light. 200 watts is enough to grow celery from stalk to healthy plants. Light energy help plants to convert nutrients into glucose. It is their main food.
Add more water
You need to check the water level on daily basis. Because when the stalk grows it absorbs water from the bowl. Due to this, the water level goes down. You need to add warm water in the bowl whenever you see the level dropped more than 1 inch.
Water plays important role in the growth of every plant. It helps them to absorb given nutrients. In the case of celery, it is necessary to give it more water. Because it is a juicy plant.
Transfer stalk into the pot
After about a week you will see new shoots coming out of the stalk. At this point, you need to transfer the stalk into the soil. Here you need to use a medium-size pot and high-quality potting soil. Do not use garden soil as a growing medium for celery.
Buy a ready-to-use multipurpose potting soil from the market. Fill the pot according to the size of the stalk.
Now take out the stalk from the bowl and without drying it. Plant it immediately in the pot.
Sprinkle water on the top surface of the soil.
Caring celery
To care for your celery, you need to put it under bright sunlight for at least 6 hours per day. It is a water-rich plant so water it regularly. Moisture in the soil is a must for growing celery. By adding adequate water, you can increase the moisture in the soil.
The next thing you need to take care of is temperature and humidity. It can tolerate normal sunny days. But you need to move the pot in shade between 11 am to 3 pm.
Hot rays at this time make the soil dry quickly. Dryness is the biggest enemy of water-rich fruits and vegetables.
